An exquisite antique Edwardian pendant featuring a large rotating fob in the centre inlaid with a deep orange carnelian on one side and a red speckled bloodstone on the reverse. It spins a full 360 degrees and is framed in 9ct gold with a chain link holder rising to the loop.
Fob pendants were a fashionable accessory in the 19th Century, often worn on a chain alongside a pocket watch. The seal, which was sometimes engraved with an identifiable image or monogram could also be used to stamp sealing wax on important letters or documents, making them practical as well as stylish.
It’s in excellent condition and complete with Birmingham hallmarks on the side that date to the very beginning of the period, 1901.
